We’re an NZTA approved course provider. That means you can go straight from Class 4 Learner’s Licence to Class 4 Full Licence in only 1-2 days. No more waiting six months!
Class 4 course covers vehicles with a gross laden weight of more than 18,000kg or a vehicle with more than two axles regardless of weight.
We offer classes each week, from 8:30am - 4:30pm approx. Choose from:
- Monday to Saturday - Sunday (Practical Drives only, No theory class Sunday)

You must have
- Class 4 learner licence (if not please go to your local AA or VTNZ, fill in a DL1 form (no test required), fee of $48.20).
- Previous practical class 4 experience, if not you will be required to book a lesson to start.
- Completed your study guides, by reading and filling out all questions and answers. (see please note section below for receiving your study guides).
- A good understanding of English, & be able to read & write in English to be able to complete this Course
NB Class 4: 1.5 day course
- You must have held your class 2 licence for less than 12 months.
- Provide your class 2 course certificate showing evidence of logbook unit standard 24089 has been completed in less than 12 months.
- Bring your completed class 2/4 study guide. (If you can't provide them we will provide new study guides for $100)
Class 4 Heavy Truck Full Licence includes
- Logbooks – Unit standard 24089 Fatigue Management, Work Time and Driver logbook. (5 credits)
- Assessment of unit standard 17576: Operate a rigid vehicle to meet the requirements for a full Class 4 driver’s licence. (7 credits) Class 4 study guide provided for unit standard 17576
(No resit fees on unit standard theory assessments if not passed straight away). - Practical assessment and manual truck provided by NZ Training Assessments Ltd.
Please note:
Once you have booked and paid, your study guides will be couriered to you (unless you have previously completed a class 2/logbook course in the last 12 months). You must ensure that you have adequate time when booking your course to receive your study guides and complete them.

No re-sit fees for unit standard theory assessments.
Practical drive re-sit fee $120.00
Practical training is an additional $115.00 per lesson.
Credit registration fee of $60 will be charged only on completion of course, this is to register your unit standards on the NZQA framework.
Additional $250.00 if need to complete practical drive assessment on an Automatic Class 4 vehicle. Please advise at time of booking should you require an Automatic Class 4.
You will receive a certificate on successful completion of the course, which you must take to the AA or VTNZ to have your licence upgraded: $49.60
